Every Child Can Learn: Why Griha Shiksha Looks Beyond One Way of Learning?

Every child is curious, capable and wonderfully different. So, should every child be

expected to learn in exactly the same way?

At Griha Shiksha, our curriculum is designed around the understanding that

children demonstrate strengths in different areas. Inspired by the idea of

Multiple Intelligences, associated with psychologist Howard Gardner, our

approach gives children varied opportunities to explore language, numbers,

movement, music, creativity, nature, communication and independent

thinking.

This philosophy comes alive through our theme-based, integrated and activity-

rich curriculum. A single theme can become an opportunity for children to

listen to a story, explore a picture, solve a problem, create something with

their hands, enjoy a rhyme, participate in an outdoor activity or discuss what

they have discovered. Our curriculum combines pictorial learning, stories,

rhymes / poetry, art and craft, play, worksheets, home activities and oral

discussions to help children engage with concepts in meaningful ways.

This approach also reflects the direction of India’s National Education Policy

(NEP) 2020, which emphasises moving beyond rote learning towards

understanding, critical thinking, discovery, creativity and experiential learning.

It specifically encourages hands-on, arts-integrated, sports-integrated and

storytelling-based approaches.

NCERT’s National Curriculum Framework for the Foundational Stage similarly

places play at the heart of early learning and highlights the value of

storytelling, music, art, movement and guided activities.
